The five kinds of cam show, and what each one actually costs

The five types

They differ on two axes: what it costs, and how much of the performer's attention is directed at you. Those two move together, and understanding the trade is the whole of this page.

1. Free: the public room

   Open to everyone, costs nothing, no account needed. Explicitness varies by platform and performer. Attention is shared with everyone present.

2. Cheap: group and ticketed

   Many viewers buy into one show at a fixed price. The lowest-cost route to explicit content that is not the public room.

3. Expensive: private and cam2cam

   One-to-one, metered per minute, the performer responding to you specifically. Where nearly all spending happens, and nearly all regret.

Token prices sit somewhere around $0.08–0.12 depending on bundle size, so a 24 token-per-minute private is roughly $2.40 a minute, or $144 an hour. Write that number down before you start one. If you would rather look around first, the public rooms are free to open .

How explicit is the free layer?

The genuinely useful answer is: it depends on the platform, and then on the performer, and both of those are knowable before you spend anything.

Some platforms permit full nudity in public rooms, and on those the free layer is substantially explicit — the business model is that a busy free room generates the tips and converts the fraction who go private. Others restrict public rooms to something closer to a shop window, and everything explicit sits behind a paid tier. Neither model is hidden; you can tell which you are on within a minute of browsing.

Within the platform's rules, each performer sets their own line, and it is almost always written in the bio. Someone whose bio says what they do in public and what they do not is saving you the cost of finding out. Read it.

Where the value actually is

If the goal is explicit content at the lowest cost, the answer is unambiguous and almost nobody says it: group and ticketed shows. A ticketed show might cost a hundred tokens to enter — eight to twelve dollars — for content that would cost several times that in a private. The reason it is cheaper is simply that the performer is being paid by thirty people at once.

What you give up is direction. In a private, what happens is a conversation between two people. In a group, it is a show being performed to a room, and your requests compete with everyone else's. That is a real difference and for some people it is the whole point of paying — which is precisely why private exists and is priced as it is.

Spy shows sit at the bottom for a reason. Cheap, yes, but you are watching someone else's session with no ability to influence it and no acknowledgement that you are there. Fine as a way of seeing what a private is like before buying one. Thin as a regular habit.

The per-minute trap

Tokens per minute × your token price = dollars per minute. Multiply by how long you actually intend to stay — not how long you think you will, which is a different and more optimistic number.

Per-minute pricing is the single largest source of regret in camming, and the mechanism is simple: a rate that sounds trivial by the minute is not trivial by the hour, and the meter runs during conversation, pauses, typing, and everything else that makes a session feel unhurried. Nothing about this is deceptive. It is just arithmetic that people do afterwards instead of before.

The defence is equally simple. Decide the number before you open the site, buy that bundle, treat it as spent, and stop. If you find yourself topping up a bundle you had decided was final, close the tab rather than doing the sum again.

Staying private

• A username that exists nowhere else. Reused usernames are searchable and are the most common way an anonymous account gets tied to a person.
• A separate email. Breaks the link to your other accounts.
• Prepaid, if you buy tokens. Caps spending structurally and settles the billing-descriptor question at the same time.
• Camera off unless you chose otherwise. Cam2cam is opt-in and costs extra; it is never required and never a condition of anything.

Recording or screenshotting a performer breaks the rules of every major platform and is a criminal offence in a growing number of places. Accounts are terminated for it permanently.
